How to Help

PLACEHOLDERThere are several ways to volunteer at H.I.S. House.

Administrative Volunteer: Do you like clerical work, if so, answering the telephone one will be educated to the need for transitional housing and emergency services in our county and beyond. Ask any of our office volunteers, and you will find that they are experts in helping those less fortunate.

RSVP/Mentor a family, single mother, single dad or single individual while they are on their journey towards self-sufficiency. If so, we are looking for Resident Support Volunteers. An RSVP meets bi-weekly with a participant to provide clear direction and motivation by being a listening, supportive friend while the resident works to accomplish both personal and program goals.

Tutor: Placentia Library hosts a “Homework Club” for school age children three evenings per week from 6:45 – 8:00 pm. Contact Nadia Dallstream at the Placentia Library for more information. (714) 524-8408 x 214

Groups - H.I.S. House has been the recipient of many group projects. Churches, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts or civic groups in the community have shared their time and talents with the shelter, Whether its cooking meals, hosting craft time, building fences or painting and decorating guest rooms and living areas there is always a project to be tackled.
